AT STEIN & PARTNERS, WE BELIEVE:
“The best buildings aren’t replaced. They’re given a second life.”
STEIN & PARTNERS
Stein & Partners is an internationally active architecture and project development firm that specializes in transforming historic and neglected buildings into exceptional contemporary living spaces.
For more than two decades, the company has been working with buildings that have outlived their original purpose—including train stations, factories, schools, warehouses, theaters, and public buildings. In doing so, it creates new uses for these spaces without losing the character and stories that make them unique.
The portfolio includes, among other projects, the conversion of a 19th-century railroad depot in Berlin, a former municipal bathhouse in Leipzig, a chocolate factory in Dresden, a Soviet weather station in Tallinn, a royal dovecote in Copenhagen, a former crematorium in Prague, and a Cold War-era bunker in Berlin into independent residential projects.
The company is known for taking on buildings that other project developers consider too complicated, too historic, or simply too unusual.

ISAAC STEIN
"I don't want to erase history; I want to make it useful for life."
Isaac Stein is the founder of Stein & Partners, a leading international project developer specializing in exceptional historic properties.
Over more than two decades, Stein has earned a reputation for transforming overlooked and challenging buildings into sought-after living spaces.
His connection to Dresden is deeply personal: His Jewish family lived in the city before the war. Some of his relatives were among those who were deported and murdered during the Holocaust.
For Stein, Last Stop Lofts is therefore both a professional opportunity and a deeply personal tribute to the past—a place connected to his family’s history that is to be preserved and, at the same time, given a new lease on life.
The Site: Forward-Looking
Isaac Stein's vision is guided by a clear guiding principle:
-
Turning a place of death into a place of life.
-
Finding a sustainable use for an abandoned property.
-
To create a space where Jewish and German life can once again coexist.
-
To show respect for those who were once displaced by ensuring that people today consciously return to this place.

I came to Dresden,
, because I see an opportunity here:
“The opportunity to honor the past without remaining trapped in it.”

Help make "Last Stop Lofts" a reality
A historic site in Dresden. A new chapter.
Last Stop Lofts is a concept that aims to transform one of Dresden’s most significant historic sites into an extraordinary collection of loft apartments—with the goal of preserving the building’s character and history while breathing new life into it.
For this vision to become a reality, the city of Dresden must make the property available for this project.
We are therefore collecting public expressions of support to demonstrate that there is genuine interest in preserving this extraordinary place, reimagining it, and making it accessible to a new generation of residents.
